Orbits
Orbits is a sculptural piece that explores the endless transformation cycles of life beyond death and the full-circle effect of life. It highlights how we originate from and return to nature as a part of it.
The Orbits project consists of 35 glass spheres, with each sphere representing the life form of a drop of water. Carefully pulling each half of the sphere in opposite directions reveals a series of beautifully interconnected circular cut-out papers. Some spheres are presented closed, while others are open like an accordion book, showcasing the stunning paper marbling and cut-out work process. These handmade treated papers, each featuring a unique abstract marble effect, allude not only to the representation of particles and small life forms in the water but also the many facets and transformations of life and death. The spheres rest on a circular plexiglass surface placed on a wooden pedestal at a low height so that people can view the piece from above. The plexiglass features a loop-circular text around the border that reads:
"You are a dream drop of rain that runs through my body orbiting someone else’s skin in riddles of ellipses and hyperbolas like a collection of atoms "
