Personal Encounters

Personal Encounters is composed of five Tetra Pak intaglio prints, carefully cut and transformed into objects. Moving away from the conventional rectangular format of the print, the work considers the printed image as something that can occupy physical space and carry the presence of an object.

The work begins with encounters of familiar things that have accompanied the artist through childhood and become embedded in her personal memory. Across the prints, the idea of a thread becomes a connecting gesture. The lines within the images extend metaphorically into strands of hair and finally into physical fiber. Thread becomes a way of thinking about care, binding, interconnectedness, and continuity.

Yet connection is held alongside rupture. The presence of scissors introduces the possibility of separation, the moment when a thread can be cut. Between these gestures of binding and severing, Personal Encounters considers the fragile lines of life.
