INSIGHTS

Insights brings a new perception of the world around us from an intimate and poetic point of view. The book works like a lexicon through the relationship between image and word. The accordion-fold design enhances the duality and contrast of two worlds: the inner and the outer. The photographs selected are part of an ongoing series titled Collected Memories.

DREAM OF TWO

The bed: home, shelter, boat, bridge, heaven, insane asylums, school, hospital, nurse, mother, tale, memory, brothel, truth, death. We spend half of our lives sleeping and one-third of it dreaming. In this state of rest, tranquility, and obliviousness, our subconsciousness opens a portal to a parallel world, a version of our lives, creating a new “I”. The main purpose of this series is to convey that parallel oneiric world that our “I” shows with a different identity. By using the process of horizontal inversion of the image, two dimensionalities are created, which can exist in harmony or contradiction.

COLLECTED MEMORIES

Inadvertently built, this ongoing series recreates personal ephemeral moments in the representation of a society driven by the need to perpetuate its experiences. The image, often manipulated and selected, is part of our “existing in the world” as individuals. With an intimate tone, Collected Memories proposes not only to portrait a mere photographic snapshot but moods through the use of text. Creating this way a dialogue text-image, new readings are triggered in a narration of micro-stories enkindled by one voice.

MONOTYPES OF THE CELLULOID

Accident, mistake, adventure, revelation, unveiling. This series embraces the accidents of the celluloid by finding in each photograph the secrets of the light. I see the image as a code, in which, perhaps, if we work hard we can read the other side of the world.
